busy busy busy

have been so busy the last few weeks that it has all been a blurr!! My daughter turned 5 and started school for the first time, I have a new reception class, been camping for the last time this summer and been sewing like mad to boot! Exhausted but happy :-)
Last night I learnt how to make a bread basket at the craft group I run. Really, really pleased with it and love this dotty material-what do you think? It's reversible too!!
Anyway, just a quick one as must get on with the Christmas (yes Christmas!!) sewing!!!

My sewing circle

Found a fab website yesterday. I decided to try a different sewing magazine to the one I bought for my holiday and this time bought 'Sew Hip' (bought 'sew' last time-bit on the expensive side). Anyway, there was an article about a new sewing forum site called www.mysewingcircle.com and I had to check it out straight away. It's great as there are loads of people on there who are obviously amazing sewers-puts me to shame and makes me wonder why people actually buy my stuff!! Anyway, its great and would definitely recommend checking it out.
Anyway, that's all for now

New purse!

Just a quick one. Went to the local fabric shop yesterday and while getting material for an order, some funky green retro print fabric caught my eye. Must have been popular as two other people bought some of the same material while I was there! Anyway, today I decided to make myself a new purse as mine if getting a bit dogeared. I really like it. not sure how practical the design is, but will give it a go. What do you think?

back to reality

Well, I am back from my holiday-had an amazing time in Turkey-lovely weather, food, swimming, new friends and...my 4 year old daughter learnt to swim without floats, so I am a very proud mummy!!
I bought a magazine called 'sew' to read on holiday-quite enjoyable and lots of interesting websites for me to look up now i am at home, but the price was extortionate (£5.99!!!). so, can anyone recommend any similar magazines that may be a touch cheaper?
I havent been able to gain the energy to do any sewing today, but I will definitely be back at the sewing machine tomorrow-I have missed it! (does that make me sad?!)
That's all for now. Would appreciate any advice/help to make my blog more exciting!!!

Thursday, 29 July 2010

So, I am all packed (I think/hope)and am off to Turkey in the very early hours of the morning. Bit worried about having to get the children up at stupid-o'clock, but it will be worth it when we get there! this is our first holiday since we got married 6 years ago, so i am very very excited!! We usually go camping in England in our VW campervan, but think a bit of sun is in order this year. So very excited, though I am beginning to wonder if I am addicted to sewing as I am worrying about being away from my sewing machine for 10 days!!! I have bought a sewing magazine for the first time to get me through-though it was a bit of a rip off. Anyone able to recommend a good cheap sewing magazine for next time? Anyway, see you all when I get back.

I'm new to blogging!!

I have never blogged before, so here goes my first attempt! I set up my new page on facebook a week ago and have been so overwhelmed by the support and advice from other crafters-so lovely to feel so supported in my small venture. I was advised to start blogging, but being a bit of a technophobe, I wasn't really sure what it was. Having now checked out a few other people's blogs, I thought I would have a go. Not sure what to write really, so advice would be great. I am busy sewing door stops at the moment, but as I am off on holiday on Friday i will have to put everything aside and start packing :-) Bek
